Freeholder candidates to debate Tuesday at SCCC

Four Republicans in primary contest for two seats on board

NEWTON — Two Republican incumbents — Freeholder Director Jonathan Rose and Freeholder Carl Lazzaro — will be vying for re-election to two, three-year terms on the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders against Republican challengers Dawn Fantasia and Joshua Hertzberg. Fantasia, who is currently serving as the president of the Franklin Borough Council, is running on a ticket with Sparta Mayor Hertzberg.

The four candidates will have the chance to spar over some of the county's most pressing issues at a live debate scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at the Performing Arts Center at Sussex County Community College.

The debate, which will be open to the public and moderated by the New Jersey Herald, will be live streamed on the New Jersey Herald website and Facebook page.

The candidates are listed alphabetically.

The primary election is June 5.
